Good morning! Welcome to Week 2 of the Wanderlust CAL. This week we will be crocheting Benji, the Black Bear (feel free to name him or her whatever you prefer). I just love this square… so adorable. This week there is only one square option, but get ready for next week, because choices will need to be made!!!
If you haven’t joined yet, there is still time! Check out Wanderlust CAL Week 1 – The Happy S’more here. I promise you won’t regret getting in on the fun!
Keep in mind, the Wanderlust CAL can be personalized. You can decide to do each release and have a large blanket to snuggle under or you can just do some of the releases and make a lap blanket, baby blanket, or pillows! You can also personalize each release with whatever colors suit your style… really, the possibilities are endless with this CAL. I will be providing the colors I choose to use on my squares, but again, feel free to get creative and share!
- Red Heart Yarn – Medium Weight (4)
- Colors for Benji the Black Bear: Black, Buff, Café Latte, Coffee, Grey Heather
*If you prefer a lighter background to the Coffee (dark brown), then I would suggest Aran Fleck.
- Hook Size: I recommend G or H (I opted for H)
- Yarn Clips
- Yarning Needle
- Benji the Black Bear Graph
- Bobble *** I will be using the bobble stitch for the Wanderlust CAL
- Mini C2C
I have a private Facebook group (Wanderlust CAL) for everyone that would like to participate in the Wanderlust CAL. My hope is that the Facebook group will allow us to share our creativity with yarn choices as well as with the type of stitch you decide to use. It will also act as an avenue to ask questions if we run into issues.
Wanderlust CAL Schedule
I will continue to release on Fridays, so that you can get your yarn on the weekend and still have time to complete the square.
Tips and Tricks
WEAVE IN ENDS AS YOU GO ALONG!!!! I promise it will make your life way easier once you’ve completed the Wanderlust CAL!
The more colors of yarn you have per square, the easier it is for the yarn to tangle. I recommend checking out my friend Amy from The Quiet Homemaker’s post on her DIY Bobbin Holder as well as her Facebook Live Video showing it in action. Super helpful… definitely check it out!
Angie from Chaos & Chop Suey is another maker to check out. She has hosted quite a few amazing CALs and has a lot of tutorials available on her website.
